Top Skills Vocabulary

Top Skills: Vocabulary is intended primarily as an aid for the Selective Schools and Scholarship exams. However this book can be used productively by any upper primary student wishing to improve his or her vocabulary. It will provide a solid grounding in word skills which will be vital in secondary school.

The book consists of 20 units. Each unit begins with a vocabulary list and a cloze exercise. The topics covered in the remainder of the unit comprise all aspects of vocabulary. They include:

• synonyms and antonyms
• idioms
• homphones
• similes
• frequently misused words
• analogies
• proofreading

Consistent vocabulary practice will improve performance on vocabulary tests, help understanding in comprehension exercises and enhance writing skills.
